Day 1 | Depart Adelaide - Heysen Trail - Cape Jervis to Cobbler Hill (14km)

We depart from Adelaide at 8am to head south of Adelaide towards Cape Jervis on Ramindjeri – Ngarrindjeri Country for our first day of walking the Heysen Trail. We call in to the Yankalilla/Normanville for a morning tea and coffee stop before making our journey to the start of the Heysen Trail. Don’t be fooled by the 14km distance, we expect to be walking for most of the afternoon with a picnic lunch enroute as the trail meanders through private property and Deep Creek Conservation Park on undulating trails along coastline and cliff tops.  We spot spaceship accommodation before popping out onto Blowhole Beach, cross a tidal creek and start our biggest climb of the day up to Cobbler Hill carpark.  Our awaiting bus will deliver us to our oceanside accommodation for the next 4 nights.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Trail Snacks, 2 Course Dinner
Distance: 14km

Day 2 | Heysen Trail Fleurieu - Cobbler Hill to Tapanappa (13km)

Today we head back to Cobbler Hill to complete 13km to Tapanappa campground via the Deep Creek waterfall.   We will definitely need our hill legs today as we venture deep into a valley over a small creek and seasonal waterfall past the gorgeous hut at Eagle Waterhole before uphill to fire track that opens out the landscapes and skies above.  This area is regularly burned to reduce to fire risk and can be in a constant state of regrowth and regeneration.  The hills dominate this section with steep declines and inclines and rocky terrain to overcome on the challenging contours of Deep Creek Conservation Park.  We break at Trig for a picnic lunch before enjoying a slightly easier second half of our walk today downhill and over the creek if passable and to Deep Creek waterfall.  Our final push uphill is gradual and with a few switchbacks to break the undulations for us, we will find our bus waiting for us at Tapanappa.  Enjoy sundowners with us and a recap of our adventures while relaxing with ocean views from our accommodation.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Trail Snacks, 2 Course Dinner

Distance: 13km

Day 3 | Heysen Trail Fleurieu - Tapanappa to Balquidder (15km)

After a good rest and big breakfast, today we conquer another challenging section of the Heysen Trail with 15km of fun from Tapanappa to Balquidder.  Along inland coastal scrub trail we descend and rise on a trail hugging the hillside with bracken forest and grass trees.  We head downhill steeply onto Boat Harbour Beach with rock hopping and creek crossings before climbing up and leaving Deep Creek Conservation Park and onto rolling clifftops all the way to Tunkalilla Beach.   Soft sand makes this section of our journey a tough one and will give your legs a different kind of work out after the trails covered so far.  There is only one way off this beach and that is up!   The steepest climb of our entire adventure follows a fence line and may define calf muscles as we leave the coast behind us and onto rolling hills and farmland for the final part of our trek today.  We hit our finish point on country roads at Balquidder.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Trail Snacks, 2 Course Dinner
Distance: 15km

Day 4 | Heysen Trail Fleurieu - Balquidder to Waitpinga (15km)

Today we leave from Balquidder weaving our way through a creek lined valley to the coastline once more.  We have two sections of beach walking today and again we cross cliff tops to link beach to beach along some remote and wild sections of Southern Ocean.  Rolling hills and a few creek crossings await before we cover Parsons and Waitpinga beaches both popular surf spots for locals.  After the challenges and climbs of yesterday, our walk today is a little more leisurely but no less stunning with the chance to spot dolphins, whales and a variety of bird life.  As part of caring for our beautiful coastline, we collect any removable rubbish with us.  If timing allows once we reach Waitpinga, we offer the afternoon to call in on a local winery for tastings and platters.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Trail Snacks, Winery Tastings and Platters, 2 Course Dinner
Distance: 15km

Day 5 | Heysen Trail - Waitpinga to Victor Harbor (15km) - Return to Adelaide

We head out early to finish our Heysen Trail adventure on a high today, enjoying the most spectacular section of clifftop walking from Waitpinga to Victor Harbor in Newland Head Conservation Park.  You may see echidnas today and dolphins and seals playing in the waves as well as fish traps used by First Nations Ramindjeri people at Kings Beach. The trail has some gentle undulations today and a few short steep bits as we wind our way oceanside along dramatic cliffs and beachy sections towards the Bluff at Encounter Bay.  We walk towards this stand out land formation steeped in cultural and maratime history where we will be taken to our celebration lunch plus some afternoon wine tasting enroute via McLaren Vale. We head back to Adelaide arriving back to the city early evening feeling accomplished and fulfilled after completing 72km of this magnificent 1200km trail.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Trail Snacks, Celebration Lunch and wine tastings
