Overview

Women’s Mount Remarkable Hike

Guided hike and camping

Join women walkers on our Mount Remarkable hike in Nukunu and Ngadjuri Country.

Get ready to experience the Flinders Ranges, through gorges and along ridges reaching campsites only accessible by foot.

This Women’s Mount Remarkable Micro Adventure brings spectacular views and plenty of adventure. You will carry a 60-75 litre backpack on moderately challenging trails and sleep in a tent on consecutive nights.

We help you manage your backpack, erect your tent, and cook light weight meals. We also share hiking tips and guide you along the way.

Some overnight camping and pack carrying experience is essential for this adventure, as there is no support vehicle. Also, the campsites are walk-in only and do not have rainwater tanks. Therefore you need to carry sufficient water for drinking and meal preparation. If you are a beginner, we suggest you book a spot on our Overnight Hike for Beginners  or our 2 day micro-adventures for women. Alternatively, consider booking the ‘Day Walk and Camp’ option.

This Micro Adventure is professionally led by our qualified and experienced female bushwalking leaders – so come and enjoy this safe, supported and educational experience.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Travel and hike to Eaglehawk

Departing Adelaide in the morning. You will travel in comfortable private transport to Mount Remarkable and enjoy a hot drink from a café along the way.

Its then on to Mambray Creek campground where hiking gear is distributed into individual backpacks. Your pack will be weighed and then you will enjoy a fresh healthy lunch.  Then we drive to Alligator Gorge and the starting point of the hike. Here, we farewell the bus for the next 2 days.

Hiking to Eaglehawk camp is our afternoons goal. You will enjoy following the quartzite cliffs of the Narrows and the Terraces. Its normal to feel quite tiny and young next to these ancient walls of wonderful colour.

Upon arriving, we set up camp and our home away from home for night 1. When ready, its then time to enjoy a warm soup, dinner and hot drinks. You can bring your own treats if you like too.

Then its time to relax beneath the stars, enjoying a chat and a laugh.

Meals Included: Lunch, Trail Snacks, 2 Course Dinner
Walking Distance: 6km

Day 2 | Hike to Hidden Gorge

Upon waking at EagleHawk campground, we enjoy a morning stretch and a hot breakfast before packing up camp.

Today you walk to Hidden Gorge camp via the Battery Ridge Track. You will see great views of the Gulf in the distance. Also, negotiating the rocky river bed of Hidden Gorge allows you opportunities to pause and listen to the River Red Gums.

Carrying our water we arrive at our dry campsite. Here at Hidden Gorge, we again enjoy dinner, dessert and hot drinks. Whilst sitting back under an outback night sky reflecting on a gorgeous hiking day.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Trail Snacks, Lunch, 2 Course Dinner
Walking Distance: 14km

Day 3 | Hike to Mambray Creek, travel to Adelaide

The second nights sleep in the tent usually is a good one, especially after a challenging hike.

Taking in the cliffs at camp, we enjoy breakfast before loading up for the final stretch. Today you will follow Mambray Valley, from Hidden Gorge camp to Mambray Creek Campground.

Arriving at Mambray Creek we reunite with our transport. Then you can sit back and relax on the journey back to Adelaide. Our optional lunch stop will be at an iconic Australiana bakery (known for gourmet pies and quandong tarts), along the way.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Trail Snacks
Walking Distance: 6km
