The Adelaide Coast Park self-guided walk is a 38km coastal trail located west of Adelaide’s city centre. The trail starts from Hallett Cove and follows Gulf St Vincent the entire way to North Haven/Outer Harbor Passenger Terminal.

Walk mindfully along Adelaide’s beautiful sandy coastline on an easy to walk trail. The trail passes through Adelaide’s premier beach side suburbs. With plenty of cafés, boutique shops, historic hotels and eateries to visit, you wont go hungry or thirsty. Also you can take a dip in the crystal clear water whenever you like as all the beaches are safe for swimming.

Packages are suitable for solo walkers, couples, families and walking groups. The larger your group the cheaper per person, as pricing works on a sliding scale. Your walking package includes a comprehensive walking kit with interesting facts and maps, comfortable trail transfers, and your choice of accommodation over night. We can also supply you with fresh meals or lightweight hiking food (preservative free) which is manufactured and packaged here in South Australia, with the majority sourced from South Australian farmers <view lightweight menu>.

Walking Packages

West Beach Package | 1 DAY | $150*

West Beach to North Haven/Outer Harbor

* Price per person based on 2 people. Pricing varies depending on group size. Starting from $74 per person for a group of 12 people. Bookings are available for solo travellers, couples/twin and groups of 3-12 people.

Your ‘West Beach 1 Day Package’ includes mindful coastal walking overlooking stunning beaches and picturesque coastline. You will pass through some of Adelaide’s premier old charm shopping and historic beachside precincts. Your transfer will pick you up from your cruise ship, city accommodation or a city meet spot in the morning. Then its a short comfortable drive to the trail near the Karrawirra Parri-Torrens River mouth. Along your walking journey, you may choose to swim or follow a jetty stretching out to the ocean for a chance to spot dolphins. Upon reaching the Port Adelaide River mouth near the cruise ship terminal, you can board your vessel or we will transfer you back to the city centre or airport.

Day 1

Your walk is packed full of beachside experiences on offer. From crossing over the Karrawirra Parri-Torrens River and a walk through Adelaide’s only 3 tiered remnant sand dune system at Tennyson. Plus the good vibe cafés and funky shops at Henley Beach, Grange and Semaphore. Have a drink or lunch at one of the historic hotels or restaurants. The walking surface includes sections of boardwalk, compacted natural trail, paved pathways, and grass. Or you may choose to follow the sandy beach for a while. Your walk is completely flexible. Choose where and when to eat or how long to spend exploring.

Hallett Cove Package | 2 DAYS | $293*

Hallett Cove to North Haven/Outer Harbor

* Price per person based on 2 people staying in retreat style accommodation. Pricing varies depending on group size and type of accommodation preferred. Starting from $97 per person for a group of 12 people and powered camp sites. Bookings are available for solo travellers, couples/twin and groups of 3-12 people.

You will walk the full length of the trail plus have more time to relax and explore with the ‘Hallett Cove 2 Day Package’. This package includes mindful coastal walking and visits to Adelaide’s premier old charm shopping and historic beachside precincts. Plus time to explore Aboriginal and geologically significant conservation parks. Your transfer will pick you up from your city accommodation or a city meet spot in the morning. Then its a short comfortable drive to the trail near the Hallett Cove Conservation Park. Upon reaching the Port Adelaide River mouth near the cruise ship terminal, we will transfer you back to the city centre or airport. Your accommodation over night is in a pretty seaside location.

Day 1

After your short transfer to the trail there is an opportunity to grab a coffee or cold drink before entering Hallett Cove Conservation Park. This park has Aboriginal and Geological significance. There has been many artefacts and megafauna (Giant Wombat) bones unearthed here. It’s recognised as the best record of Permian glaciation in Australia and has international significance. Overlooking the crystal clear ocean from cliffs and walking next to spectacular sandy beach is what awaits you today. The trail takes you amongst gorgeous architecture and pretty seaside communities towards Glenelg. Glenelg is Adelaide’s premier tourist beach and provides an insight into Australia’s beach culture.

Getting There

  • Your Adelaide Coast Park self-guided packages start and finish in Adelaide. The trail runs along the Adelaide coast and is a 30 minutes drive from Adelaide’s City Centre

Important Information

  • There are fine eateries and restaurants to choose from along the trail. Meals can be added to packages
  • If you prefer to prepare your meals, accommodation has been chosen with cooking facilities
  • If you prefer all meals and snacks provided this is an additional $50 per person/day
  • Accommodation is twin share. Single supplement will apply
  • You will need your own tent or swag if camping
  • Please bring what you need. The accommodation you are staying at could have limited alcohol and food available for purchase
  • Packages start and finish in Adelaide. Pickup from the North Haven Passenger Terminal or city centre accommodation is included. Vehicle transfer from North Haven back to city centre is also included

Adelaide experiences mild winters and a warm, dry summer

  • Summers are warm to hot with temperatures averaging 29°C  and occasionally up to 40°C
  • Autumn weather is pleasant with average temperatures up to 23°C and very little rainfall
  • Winter days see June as the wettest month and temperatures averaging 10°C to 16°C
  • Spring brings warmer weather and temperatures averaging up to 22°C
