Overview

Women’s Mount Crawford Hike

Guided hike and camping

Join woman walkers on our Mount Crawford Forest hike in Peramangk Country.

This Micro Adventure brings beautiful trails, fun and adventure over 2 days. It is the perfect opportunity to Find Yourself Be Yourself and Challenge Yourself.

Whether you’re a seasoned trekker, or new to overnight camping / pack carrying, you will enjoy this safe, supported and educational experience.

You will be carrying a 60-75 litre backpack on moderately challenging trails and sleeping in a tent overnight. On this overnight hike we teach you how to manage your backpack, erect a tent, and cook a light weight meal. We also share hiking tips along the way.

Professionally led by our qualified and experienced female bushwalking leaders – ladies, it’s time to overnight hike with us.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Prepare and hike to camping spot

We meet at Mt Crawford at 9:30am for a briefing before distributing hiking gear. Then we demonstrate what items must be included and how to properly pack the backpack to distribute weight safely.

We provide hot drinks and morning tea before heading off on our hike towards our campsite for the night. We stop for lunch on the way and connect with the beautiful forest space for a mindful reflection exercise before making our way to camp.

Once we reach camp we will enjoy a cosy afternoon tea together (including a stove and fuel demonstration so you can have a go at cooking your dinner later). Then it’s time to select your tent site and construct your room for the night.  In the afternoon we will have time to explore the surrounding area and build our campfire (subject to fire restrictions). A long drop toilet and rainwater tank are available on site.

We cover the topic of hiking food over dinner and share recipes and lightweight meal ideas for you to take home.

After dinner and dessert, hot drinks will be available. You can bring your own treats if you like too. Then its time to relax around the campfire after dark for a chat and laugh (subject to fire restrictions).

Meals Included: Morning Tea, Trail Snacks, Afternoon Tea, 2 Course Dinner
Walking Distance: 8km

Day 2 | Hike different trail back to starting point

Start the day with a fresh brew of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, and a morning stretch.

A hot breakfast will be prepared on the stoves provided or there is a choice of cereals. Then we pack up site (tents and gear) at 9:00am.

We will leave the camp on a combination of trails, enjoying one final hill before returning to our start/finish point. Once back at our cars, we will stretch, unpack our bags and redistribute any equipment.

To celebrate our achievement we include a café/bakery late lunch.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Morning Tea, Trail Snacks, Lunch
Walking Distance: 8km

Not only do we safely guide you and share our knowledge, we also provide invitations for you to slow down and connect deeper with nature whilst walking the trail (included activities such as an introduction to Shinrin-yoku ‘Forest Bathing’ ) <learn more about Forest Bathing here> ….. we’re pioneers of hiking with deep nature immersion

Group Fitness
we want you to succeed and maximise your enjoyment, so group chats online are provided leading up to your Micro-Adventure (included as part of the tour price). These will assist you to meet your guides and other group members, ask questions on what to expect, receive advice on the trail, travel, and the destination, and gauge your level of fitness. Many people underestimate the difficulty of walking this trail and end up under-prepared and unfulfilled ….. so we invest in your preparation

Meaningful Moments
we will bring your Mount Crawford Forest hiking experience alive ….. a guide book, phone App, and interstate companies can’t do this as well as a local South Australian tour operator like us

Flexibility (2 guides)
our departures have 2 experienced female guides. Having 2 guides means we can better cater for group dynamics and individual needs. Factors such as walking pace, injuries and incidents can mean changes to the itinerary become necessary, and if there was only 1 guide then these changes will impact on your expectations and your level of enjoyment ….. avoiding this is why we always have 2 guides

Safety
our wilderness trained female guides from Adelaide carry comprehensive group first-aid kits, satellite communication devices, and safety equipment. In addition, safety procedures are in place, and constant communication is undertaken with local emergency services. There isn’t mobile phone coverage along sections of this trail ….. so for your safety, we always have multiple communication devices

Timing
we go at the best time of the year for comfortable walking conditions. We can’t guarantee perfect weather everyday, but you can book with confidence

Small Groups
a maximum of 8 only on each departure. Meaning, it’s better for the environment, you get your own tent each night, and you won’t feel like you’re just a number in the crowd

Travel Assistance
our in-house travel specialists can assist you with travel insurance. If you’re arriving from interstate or from international destinations we can also package any accommodation, flights, and add-ons in addition to this tour.
