Walking the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail (KIWT) self-guided can be challenging but always rewarding. The Wilderness Trail weaves its way for 62km from Flinders Chase National Park to Kelly Hill Caves.
This trail was considered one of Australia’s great walks prior to the devastating bush fires in 2020. Now it’s a recovering landscape, but still a spectacular multi-day walk. You will experience nature healing herself and life returning to this special place.
We provide a 6 day walking package from Adelaide that allows you to hike the full length of the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail. Your stay for the 5 nights is in cabin accommodation close to the trail.
If you have limited time, consider our 3 day highlights package. You will enjoy 2 nights accommodation and walk up to 36km of the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail (KIWT) self-guided.
Packages are available for solo walkers, couples, families and walking groups. Your walking package includes a comprehensive walking kit with maps and information, transport to/from Adelaide, trail transfers, and accommodation each night. We can also supply you with lightweight hiking food (preservative free) which is manufactured and packaged here in South Australia, with the majority sourced from South Australian farmers <view menu>.

Getting There
- Your Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail (KIWT) self-guided packages start in Adelaide. Transport to the trail will include private vehicle/bus and ferries. Alternatively we can organise flights in lieu of the ferry.
Important Information
- Please note that only licensed tour operators can access gated tracks for trail transfers each day
- Accommodation has cooking facilities. If you want all meals provided this can be arranged and will be additional
- Cabin accommodation is twin share. Single supplement will apply
- Please bring what you need. Your accommodation has limited alcohol and food available for purchase

- Note weather and a range of circumstances outside our control can mean last minute changes to your itinerary are necessary
- If your trip departs during Fire Ban Season – last minute changes to your itinerary or walking location may be required for safety reasons
