Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrive in Hobart

Arrive in Hobart and check in to your hotel. You may like to stretch your legs and walk around the local area or meet up with your fellow walkers and grab a bite to eat.  The day and evening are at your leisure.

Day 2 | Cape Raoul Track

This morning, we meet our guides at your hotel and prepare for our 7:30am departure.

Making our way out of Hobart and towards the Tasman Peninsula where the pristine Tasman National Park is located. This coastal wonderland boasts wild and rugged cliffs and rock formations, spectacular scenery, and over one-third of Tasmania’s recorded plant species, including more than 60 that are threatened.

We walk through tall eucalypt forest, sheoak woodland and coastal heath to reach the dramatic sea cliffs of Cape Raoul. Incredible views of remote Tasman Island and Cape Pillar as well as Storm Bay to Bruny Island in the distance. Here, we pause a moment longer to admire a colony of Australian fur seals nestled at the base of Cape Raoul; then we continue to Stewarts Bay Lodge, where we will spend the next two nights.

Dinner tonight is at the nearby 1830 Restaurant, where we enjoy magnificent views overlooking the Port Arthur Historic Site and a scrumptious two-course meal featuring local produce and wine.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, 2 Course Dinner
Walking Distance: 15km

Day 3 | Tasman Coastal Track

After our lodge breakfast, we head to picturesque Waterfall Bay and begin today’s walk along the stunning Tasman Coastal Track, one of the area’s most beautiful walks! This challenging walk is often considered a trip highlight and worth the excursion.

We begin at Waterfall Bay, where a 100-metre waterfall plunges into the ocean – a spectacular sight! The track then gently climbs through tall stringybark forest before entering lush rainforest. Our ascent steepens as we make our way up Tatnels Hill until we reach our highest point of the day at 548 metres. The trail then winds downhill, gradually undulating as we continue along the coastal escarpment. The towering cliffs and dramatic rock formations providing awe-inspiring views, while the incredibly diverse wildlife offers an opportunity to spot wombats, echidnas, potoroos, and pademelons. This area is also home to Tasmania’s rare and endangered swift parrot.

We return to Stewarts Bay Lodge for dinner at the lodge’s own Gabriel’s Restaurant. Then it’s time to relax before an early night.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, 2 Course Dinner
Walking Distance: 19km

Day 4 | Cape Pillar flight or cruise / Cape Hauy Track

A relaxed hot breakfast begins our day. As you sip your morning cuppa, you can choose your own adventure.

Would you like to see Cape Pillar by helicopter or cruise? Today, we will also enjoy a walk to Cape Hauy.

For those who join the helicopter experience, your day offers a bird-eye view of Cape Pillar’s magnificent towering sea cliffs and Tasman Island with its exposed lighthouse. This experience is subject to a minimum number of 4 guests, and you will also enjoy a sit-down lunch at the Port Arthur Lavender Farm.

Alternatively, guests can enjoy a three-hour wilderness cruise around Cape Pillar. Gaping up at the majestic towering cliffs and delighting in the impressive views of the Three Capes.

The walk to Cape Hauy begins at Fortescue Bay – home to a colony of shy little penguins that can sometimes be seen at dusk when they return to their burrows. Winding through coastal forest with an abundance of wildflowers, there are many steps on this walk as we follow the track out to the exposed sea cliffs of Cape Hauy. Here we take a moment at the lookout to appreciate the views of the offshore sea stacks known as Totem Pole, The Candlestick and The Lanterns.

After our walk, we return to Hobart, arriving at approximately 8.00pm where we say our goodbyes while checking in to your hotel for your final night.
