Join Big Heart Adventures for a triple sized adventure, we have affectionately named the Tassie Trifecta.
This trip provides you the opportunity to challenge yourself and enjoy 3 iconic walks of Tasmania. The logistics are taken care of so here is your chance to maximise you hiking adventure.
Walk pack-free on trails starting from Launceston and finishing in Hobart. Beginning with the oceanic spell of Bay of Fires, then to Wineglass Bay in stunning Freycinet National Park, and finishing with the sheer cliffs of Three Capes.
This walking tour will leave you in awe and fulfilled from being immersed in nature. These 3 diverse iconic walks form this triple treat, offering you choices of shorter distances along the way.
This is an all-inclusive experience of meals featuring local Tassie produce and pre-departure training walks. So maximise your holiday and join us for a delight on the Apple Isle.
Itinerary
Day 1 | Arrive Launceston
This is arrival day into Launceston.
We will meet for a welcome drink and enjoy dinner as a team this evening with a pre-trek briefing with your Big Heart Adventures Leader.
If you arrive early, today is yours to enjoy in Launceston. You can head out to Cataract Gorge, hit the shops or cafes in town prior to meeting up this evening.

Day 2 | Bay of Fires
This morning we head off with our local guides after breakfast to the east coast to start our Bay of Fires walk.
We encounter secluded beaches on the northern section of this iconic trail, with the opportunity to see wildlife including wallabies, pademelons and kangaroos as you wander through Mt William National Park. With expansive views, diverse flora and fauna this is chance to soak in this incredible part of Tasmania and reflect on our First Nations people who once walked here before us.
Relax and enjoy a sumptuous 2 course chef prepared dinner after a wonderful introduction to our first day of walking.

Day 3 | Bay of Fires
Today we experience what Bay of Fires is known for – orange lichen rocks and colours that dance in the sunlight thanks to pink granite with high quartz content and bright white sand against a backdrop of bright blue skies.
We also have the chance to spot coastal species of birds today such as sea eagles, terns, gulls and oyster catchers along this section.
To extend your walk there is an optional cliff top hike or opportunity to relax or swim in the cool waters of Binalong Bay.

Day 4 | Freycinet
We say goodbye to the Bay of Fires today.
After breakfast we make our journey to Freycinet National Park where we enjoy a magnificent circuit walk taking in Wineglass Bay. Here we witness the beauty of the granite outcrops known as the Hazards plus remote beaches and boardwalk that lead us to amazing views of Wineglass Bay and Cape Tourville Lighthouse.
We have the chance to add on a penguin colony tour this evening (optional at own expense).

Day 5 | Tasman National Park
Heading south today, we journey to Tasman National Park in anticipation of our Three Capes adventure.
Along the way though, it’s a chance to take a step back in time with a walk and coal mine historic site visit where convict history dominates this part of Tasmania.
The landscapes change as we journey south with opportunity to spot wildlife such as wallabies, kangaroos and seabirds.
Tonight we dine at Stewarts Bay Lodge and ready ourselves for Three Capes.

Day 6 | Three Capes
Our first day to explore the Tasman National Park.
It’s a full days walk today covering Eaglehawk Neck, a narrow passage of land steeped in stories of convict prisoner escapes.
We visit Waterfall Bay after taking in the unique rock creations named Blowhole, Devils Kitchen and Tasman’s Arch.
It’s up onto the cliff tops with the dramatic rugged coastline and wild oceans below, the views from up top on the cliff line are spectacular.

Day 7 | Three Capes
We explore another Cape today but this one is not an official part of the Three Capes walk (yet).
Walking through forest of tall stringybark and old sheoak woodlands plus coastal scrub this full day walk at Cape Raoul offers views of Shipstern Bluff and the surf below.
Enjoy lunch on the cape with the chance to spot endangered wedgetail eagles. With sheer cliffs jutting out of the ocean todays views are awe inspiring.

Day 8 | Three Capes
While this might be our final trail day, the challenge is yours to enjoy with plenty of stairs on todays final hike.
Heading out to Cape Huay (or easier option to Bivouac Bay) it is all about the views as we take in the vast granite columns and rare fluted pillars that line the clifftops. A fitting finish to our Tassie Trifecta adventure.
We arrive back into Hobart in the evening passing Richmond for a chance to see this beautiful convict built bridge.
An opportunity to dine one last time at the hotel or hit one of the many local eateries nearby organised by your Big Heart Adventures Leader.

Day 9 | Hobart
While we say farewell to our fellow Big Heart Adventurers, we recommend you extend your stay in Hobart and explore this gorgeous little city. Mt Wellington, MONA, Salamanca Markets all await discovery.

- You will walk on a variety of surfaces including undulating trails, rocky paths and soft sand
- Our longest walking day is 16km and we walk 7 consecutive days on this adventure
- Shorter distances will be offered where possible

- Training walks start 8 weeks prior to departure. We recommend you attend these walks to maximise your enjoyment and for the groups welfare when away
